Pipeline Performance Measures

The Board’s top priorities are the safety of the public and the people who build and operate NEB-regulated pipeline facilities and the protection of the environment. The Board is committed to continual improvement, and to keeping pipelines a safe method of transporting oil and gas.

Notwithstanding the safety record of NEB-regulated pipelines, the Board has noticed an increased trend in the number and severity of incidents being reported by NEB-regulated companies in recent years. The Board is of the view that a reduction in numbers and severity of pipeline incidents depends on actions taken by industry. Therefore, the Board is introducing new pipeline performance measures to promote continual improvement in the management of pipelines.
