The Icefield Parkway (Highway 93) in autumn, Jasper National Park, Canada

Project Background

NGTL GP Ltd. on behalf of NGTL Limited Partnership (NGTL GP) has filed a project application for the Figure Lake Receipt Meter Station Modifications Project. The project involves piping modifications, consisting of: replacing approximately 22 m of nominal pipe size (NPS) 6 piping with approximately 3 m of new NPS 6 piping and 45 m of new NPS 4 piping at the Figure Lake Receipt Meter Station (Figure Lake RMS); replacing the NPS 8 meter with an NPS 4 meter at the Figure Lake RMS; and replacing the horizontal separator and dump tank with a 4.5 m x 2.8 m skid containing a new separator and dump tank at the Figure Lake RMS. Additional components include: disconnecting the NPS 8 Figure Lake Meter Station No. 2 (Figure Lake MS2) downstream piping from the NPS 16 Flat Lake Lateral Loop No. 2, and installing approximately 5 m of new NPS 8 and 29 m of new NPS 6 lateral tie-in piping to reconnect the Figure Lake MS2 downstream piping to NPS 12 Flat Lake Lateral and to the Figure Lake RMS; decommissioning of the NPS 6 Figure Lake Lateral &– approximately 500 m in-place and approximately 45 m removed; decommissioning in-place of approximately 31 m of NPS 3 yard piping related to the Figure Lake RMS; and decommissioning in-place of various yard piping related to Figure Lake MS2.

The project is located on previously disturbed Crown land within existing dispositions and NGTL GP owned land within SE 13-063-18 W4M, approximately 53 km southwest of Lac La Biche, Alberta. The project will require acquisition of approximately 0.38  ha of new land rights within existing NGTL dispositions, as well as temporary workspace (TWS) during construction. TWS is also anticipated to be located on previously disturbed lands within existing NGTL dispositions.

Project construction is planned to commence in November 2024, with an expected project-in-service date in February 2025.
